“We have known Bret and Joan for a number of years and I have to say that we trust the Bordners as much now if not more than when we started our project. If you have ever seen the homes that Bret has built, you know that he does great work, uses quality products and people. He has a great attention to detail, which shows in the end product. While walking through our house when framed and along the way, I had multiple people comment on the quality of home that we were getting, everything from the wood that Bret used down to the workmanship. The important thing for us was that we ended up with a high-quality house that we like as we plan to be in it for a long time. It’s been 3 years and we still love it as much as the day we moved in.

Bret’s experience with building custom and spec homes helped us a great deal. Whenever we had to make choices where we didn’t have a strong opinion, I would ask him –“what would you do on a spec, what would you do with a custom and what would you do on your own house?” It got to the point that Bret would come to me with these three answers as we reviewed the options and we got to a point that Bret would make a suggestion as he knew what was important to us. Bret always had our best interest in mind and is very trustworthy. We told him that if he needed a quick decision and couldn’t contact us, just make the decision for us. Bret was on-site daily and made sure that things ran smoothly. When we started and had Bret look at our project, we already had plans and my only regret was that I wish we would have involved him sooner. He not only made 4 adjustments to our plans (which we absolutely loved), but he made even dealing with the City easy and saved us weeks of going back and forth. When the project wrapped up and people asked me about surprises, the only thing I could honestly say was that we were pleasantly surprised that Bret finished a month and a half early and our biggest concern was getting out of our rental agreement, which is minimal from what other people experience.

From a cost standpoint, Bret bid our project and was right on what we expected to pay (our budget). Bret did a great job explaining all of the costs and helped us figure out where it was worth spending extra money and where it didn’t really matter. In the end, we came in under budget, which was also unheard of from what other people said about their builders. All I can say is that they should have used Bret.

We ended up with a house that we love, finished early and under budget with no complaints and it was a pleasure having our good friends build our home.”

“In 2003, my wife and I hired Bordner Construction to build a new 4,200 square foot home in Clyde Hill. The old home on the property was demolished in July 2003. We moved into the new home in February 2004; a gratifying short elapsed time of 7 months. This was a custom designed home in the Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie Style coupled with many Asian and Craftsman influences. As a custom home, there were many non-standard amenities.
